Imo community passes vote of confidence on Ilomuanya
The people of Obinugwu community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo
State, has passed a vote of confidence on HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya,
Chairman of the state council of traditional rulers, and the Obi of
Obinugwu, just as they condemned Governor Rochas Okorocha’s threat to
banish the traditional ruler from the state.
A statement signed by Kennedy Eweama, Media Consultant to Eze
Ilomuanya, and made available to The AUTHORITY, said the Obinugwu
people re-affirmed their loyalty to Eze Ilomuanya.
Governor Okorocha had earlier threatened to banish Eze Ilomuanya from
the state if he continued to parade himself as the traditional ruler of
Obinugwu.
According to the governor, Mr Stanley Simeon Nwangwu, has been made
the traditional ruler of the community following the deposition of Eze
Ilomuanya.
But the Obinugwu people in the statement cautioned the governor against
imposing a traditional ruler on them, saying that Eze Ilomuanya
remains their Eze, and that no vacancy exists in Obinugwu Ezeship stool.
The people said, “Governor Okorocha’s threat that he will arrest and
banish our traditional ruler, HRH Eze C I Ilomuanya, has a disturbing
and provocative effect on the youths and the entire Obinugwu community.”
The community also demanded the reinstatement of their monarch as the
Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers in compliance with
various court judgments and the federal government’s directive on the
issue.
“Prior to Governor Okorocha’s unwarranted aggression against Eze
Ilomuanya, Obinugwu Community had enjoyed peace, stability and constant
development because of the amicable relationship between our monarch
and we, his subjects”, the statement said. - The Authority
