Beyond the awards and recognitions. National
crimewatch magazine was also celebrating 14 years of extensive and well
rounded crime reporting in Nigeria. National Crimewatch Magazine started
as a Newsletter in 2003 to become a Newspaper in 2008 and Rebranded in
2014 into what we now call National Crimewatch Magazine. National
Crimewatch Awards is one of their cardinal objective designed to
celebrate, honour and recognition excellence in crime prevention and
management within the Nigeria borders. It is gradually becoming of one
the most prestigious and certified annual awards and celebration in
Nigeria. It is actually an end of year party for those in the security
and crime industry. As we are aware that the are genuine concerns about
the high level of crime rates in Nigeria. The Nation today is replete
with all kind of issues ranging from, corruption, armed-robbery, advance
fee fraud, assassination, child and women trafficking, all manner of
insurgencies, rape and above all terrorism to mention a few. The
utilization of our resources and revenues generated by government at all
levels and agencies has left so many unanswered questions, given the
high level of Economic recklessness and public stealing that has become a
National embarrassment from some leaders in position of Authority. The
resources and revenues generated is meant to provide basic
infrastructure, like portable drinking water, electricity, roads, good
health care, education, housing and most importantly security of lives
and properties. National Crimewatch Magazine is concerned with all of
the above issues. Good governance, efficient policing, human capacity
building among others form the bedrock for the 2017 edition of the
National Crimewatch award. The lead awards for this year edition are the
National Crimewatch Man of the year won by Dcp Ibrahim Magu, acting
Chairman of the EFCC and Governor of the year Crime Prevention won by
His excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the amiable Governor of Lagos
state for their impeccable exploit since they assumed office on November
