Angola set to acquire aircraft to monitor exclusive economic zone
Angola will buy three C-295 maritime patrol aircrafts to ensure
monitoring and surveillance missions at maritime space and in particular
the Exclusive Economic Zone (ZEE).
The initiative, aimed at securing national sovereignty, follows the
Presidential Order of 2 March, authorising the signing of an agreement
worth EUR 159.9 million between Airbus Defence And Space S.A.U, and
Simportex, E.P.
The implementation of aircraft acquisition project, dubbed "Kalunga", aims to equip the Angolan Navy with the necessary means for the protection of the said spaces.
The minister of Finance is authorised to negotiate the funding with Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) and include the said agreement in the Public Investment Programme (PIP).
