Rainoil Limited, an integrated oil and gas group led by Nigerian oil tycoon Gabriel Ogbechie, has unveiled a state-of-the-art mega filling station in Benin City, the fourth-largest city in Nigeria and the capital of Edo State in the South-South geopolitical zone of the country.

This landmark achievement is the latest in a series of strategic moves aimed at expanding the company’s presence and operations, further solidifying its leadership position in Nigeria’s oil industry.

Boasting a sprawling expanse of more than 5,000 square meters, the facility is strategically positioned along the Benin bypass — a major highway that connects Nigeria’s South-South and South-West geopolitical zones and is poised to offer unparalleled service delivery to motorists.

As the sole company in Nigeria to possess tank farms in three of the four pivotal locations where petroleum products are imported and distributed nationwide, Rainoil has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring consistent, high-quality supply to its clientele.

Gabriel Ogbechie, the group managing director of Rainoil, emphasized that customers at the newly launched mega filling station will receive the same standard of service as those who frequent any other Rainoil station. 

Rainoil, a key player in Nigeria’s oil industry, was founded by Ogbechie in 1997 and operates across the downstream value chain.

Its activities encompass petroleum product storage, haulage, distribution, and retail sales, with three depots of 50 million storage capacity each located in Oghara, Delta State, Calabar, Cross Rivers State, and Ijegun, Lagos State.

Under Ogbechie’s leadership, Rainoil has expanded its asset base in the 26 years of its operation, including the acquisition of three state-of-the-art petroleum product storage depots, operating over 100 retail outlets across Nigeria, and managing a fleet of more than 140 petroleum product tank trucks for efficient product delivery to its extensive network of stations and customers across the country.

In 2021, Rainoil bolstered its strategic expansion plans across the oil and gas value chain with the acquisition of Eterna Plc, a Nigerian lubricant and chemical manufacturer and marketer, in a cross-deal worth $26.1 million through Preline Limited, an investment vehicle owned by Ogbechie.
